Porcupine Point:
A True Legacy

A piece of Tahoe history that it's waiting for your family to create endless memories.

The Greatest five acres, and eight hundred feet of shoreline

The point sits where the lake bends, which is why the light lasts here: sun across the water from the east shore in the morning, and still on the granite at the west shore in the evening. The boulders on the beach are the ones in every photograph anyone has ever taken of this place, going back well over a century.

Behind them, lawn. Behind the lawn, two gated entries and the road, which you will not hear.

GREATES FOOTAGE AND ACREAGE OF WHOLE CALIFORNIA

THE ESTATE

Three houses.
You open the ones you need

Most parties take the main house and add the others as the group fills out. The second family, the friends arriving late, the children who would rather have their own door. Everyone eats together. Nobody has to sleep together.

MAIN HOUSE

Tallac House

The long table. Where everyone ends up.

Opened as needed

Ansel Adams Cottage

Its own kitchen, front door, and decks.

OPEN AS NEEDED

Rubicon Bunk House

Directly on lake. You hear it from the bed.

Tallac House

MAIN HOUSE

The house the property is organized around. A table that seats everyone at once and rooms that hold twelve people comfortably, which is a different thing from holding them at all.

Ansel Adams Cottage

GUEST HOUSE

Fully independent. A full kitchen, private decks, and its own way in and out. A Weber grill sits outside, often becoming the natural gathering place for dinner.

Rubicon Bunk House

GUEST HOUSE

Built on the water itself. The shortest walk to the pier on the property, and reliably the first house the younger half of the party claims.

Experiences & Amenities

The point holds its own pier and buoy. There is no ramp to queue for, no slip to arrange, no walk down a public path carrying a cooler. The boat is moored when you arrive, and at six in the morning the lake belongs to whoever is willing to be awake.

✦ PRIVATE PIER

Private, and held for your party alone. The sundeck above it is open to guests;
the boat house is not in service.

✦ MOORING

One buoy included, with tender service.
A second can be arranged.

✦ YOUR VESSEL

Rentals are close by. Whatever you want on the water is delivered and moored before you land.

✦ The Chris-Craft

Our caretaker holds a captain's licence.
A 31-foot Chris-Craft runs lake tours, evening cruises, and takes you across to dinner.

✦ Paddle

Kayaks and paddleboards on the beach. Life jackets sized to your party in advance.

ARRENGEMENTS

A Caretaker is here for the length of your stay

Present when you want him, invisible when you don't.
Most of what a week here asks for is settled before you land.

Arrival

Met at Reno or Sacramento and driven in. No counter, no gate code, no explaining who you are.

KITCHEN STOCKING

The kitchens stocked to your list — the wine you actually drink, the coffee your household prefers, the food the children will eat. We can arrange for what you specifically want.

babysitting / childcar

Childcare and babysitting arranged in advance.

Tours / Days out

Charters, guides, tee times, mountain-bike rentals, rafting. Booked for you rather than by you.

PRIVACY AND SECURITY

Two gated entries, no shared amenities, and no other party on the property while yours is here.

When they do, the north shore keeps everything inside twenty minutes. From an ice cream after swimming to a boat down the lake for dinner.

Cut into the mountainside above the lake, and one of the best-known rides in the country. Advanced. Guides and rentals can be arranged.

Golf

Nine and eighteen-hole courses within easy reach, several of them along the water.

Rafting

Gentle whitewater out of Tahoe City. A half-day the whole group can do together.

EXPLORE KINGS BEACH

Mexican, Asian, a proper burger, and the ice cream that ends most afternoons. Mini golf minutes away. Check out our Local Guide.
